Kallenbach Missions was established in conjunction with Spirit Life Church. Pastors George & Jean have been active members of Spirit Life Church for more than a decade.
Pastor George was instrumental in setting up and leading our video and photography department for many years.
Pastor Jean has been a part of prayer ministry, women's group, jail ministry, Parish Nurse and secretary to Spirit To Spirit Ministry. They both have a passion for children, a desire and willingness to serve, a love for Guatemala and a heart for God.
Kallenbach Missions and Spirit Life Church have been making short term mission trips for 6 years. We have fed 100's of mountain village families, built churches, provided Bible Institute training for native pastors, taught the pastors and people of Guatemala God's Word. We also teach children through puppets, music and drama skits. In partnership with Amar Es Servir Ministry in Guatemala City run by Doris Mazariegos we provided supplies for students and teachers for 3 schools.
We Serve God by Serving His Children
At Kallenbach Missions International we serve God by serving His children, provide hope where there is despair, provide joy where there is sadness, and provide light in the midst of darkness.
We have a passion for children, a desire and willingness to serve, a love for Guatemala and a heart for God.
In addition to working with Amar Es Servir (To Love is To Serve) school and other organizations in Guatemala, our mission work is expanding into Mexico and other areas.
Our presence focuses on providing the needy with basic needs -- education (academic and life skills), food, clothing and medical/dental care. We also assist with construction of churches and schools by working with established local organizations. The core of our ministry is Christian teaching and training of pastors and lay people.
Called to Serve God's People in Mission Work
God sparked a divine fire in us when we listened to a guest missionary who spoke at our church in 1999 about his adventures during short-term mission trips. We both felt compelled to sign up for a trip even though we did not have the necessary funds to cover the cost.
We discussed the situation with our pastor. He said that if it was God's will, God would make it happen but first we need to take a step of faith -- begin to raise the money needed for the trip. We actually ended up with enough funds so that even our grandson, Chris, could accompany us.
Our first mission trip to Guatemala proved to be challenging. Our luggage was lost and we were left with only the clothes we were wearing. Days were exhausting; we rose at 5 a.m. and did not get to bed until 11 p.m. The weather was steamy hot and very humid.
One day while cleaning vegetables for a meal in La Tinta, Guatemala, we started singing, "Draw me, Lord, oh draw me, Lord, and I will run after you." Wow, something happened to us in that glorious, precious moment. We felt like we were on holy ground. We just knew with certainty that God was calling us to mission work. That day in Guatemala, amid vegetable peels and joyous singing, Kallenbach Missions International was born.
We incorporated KMI in 2004 and our adventures with God continue.
